Explore Indigenous Art at ON UNCEDED TERRITORY
The Vancouver Park Board invites families and art enthusiasts to experience ON UNCEDED TERRITORY, a delightful free exhibition showcasing the talents of artists from the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. From September 25 to October 4, 2026, the vibrant Roundhouse Community Centre will be alive with the creative expressions of these incredible artists.
Meet the Artists Behind the Magic
This exhibition shines a light on three prominent local artists: Chrystal Sparrow, T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss, and Mark George. Each artist brings a unique perspective to their work, interweaving traditional teachings with contemporary practices. For instance, Sparrow incorporates Coast Salish methodologies in her carvings and paintings that echo modern Indigenous identities, while Wyss dives into Indigenous plant knowledge and the deep connections to their land sacred to the Squamish people. Meanwhile, George, a master carver and Tsleil-Waututh heritage storyteller, captures the essence of Tsleil-Waututh culture in his demonstrations.

As part of the festivities, you'll find opening receptions featuring engaging performances, such as the ‘Dance Party for the Land and Sea’ by T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss, alongside canoe carving demonstrations led by Mark George.
